The Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) program supports, facilitates and encourages AFV's by District government agencies. The Department of Public Works (DPW), for example, uses a Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) grant to assist in the purchase of AFV's and the DCEO obtains US Department of Energy (DOE) grants for incremental costs to assist agencies in purchasing heavy duty vehicles and school buses.  DCEO also supports the District's participation in DOE's Clean Cities Program.
