Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) Alternative Fuel Grants

The DDOE initiates alternative fuels grant and program activities that work in concert with other District and federal agencies as well as the public. The District Department of Transportation receives funds from the Federal Highway Administration to operate programs under the CMAQ grant program. The DDOE recently received a CMAQ grant to assist in the installation of three alternative fuel pumps, in an effort to accomodate government fleets, private fleets and the general public. Such programs help to eliminate US dependence on imported petroleum products and facilitates more reliance on alternative fuels such as natural gas and solar energy.
