| Greening the Government
Greening the Government is an effort by all DC government agencies to improve the products and services used across agencies to be environmentally sensitive and responsible.
The mission of the Greening the Government Sub-Committee (GGSC) is to provide services to DC government agencies through comprehensive environmental programs and activities in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare while considering sound policies regarding employment and economic development.
There are ten elements in which the service will be provided: green procurement, green development, environmental education programs, green database and catalogue of green policies, conservation, technology practices, alternative fuels, green power, sustainable landscaping and integrated solid waste management.
The following agencies are represented in the GGSC: The City Administrator of the District of Columbia; The Deputy Mayor for Operations; Department of Public Works; DC Energy Office; Department of Health; Office of Property Management; Department of Parks and Recreation; Department of Transportation; Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs; Office of Contracts and Procurement; Office of Finance and Resource Management; Chief Technology Officer; Public Service Commission; DC Water and Sewer Authority; Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments; DC Public Schools; Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia.
