Fishing Programs

The staff of the District Department of the Environment, Fisheries and Wildlife Division provides fishing opportunities throughout the year (weather dependent). Educational and recreational outings for children, youth, and adults are conducted by staff biologists. An introduction to angler ethics, fishing safety, and freshwater fishing techniques is taught, and then participants are given the opportunity to participate in hands-on fishing. Participants of our programs will learn about aquatic biology, ecology, conservation, and ethical angling.

Summer fishing programs often depend on volunteers to assist staff with equipment preparation and maintenance, and hands-on instruction of participants. The summer fishing program typically operates from mid-June through early August. Groups are invited to participate in hands-on fishing with a staff biologist (restrictions apply).

Our Tackle Loaner Programs provides for the loan of fishing equipment and terminal tackle for both groups and individuals.
