District Government Receives Award for Work with Green Roofs
The District of Columbia has received the "Civic Award of Excellence" from Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. The District placed seventh among major cities in North America, with more than 55,000 square feet of new green roofs installed in 2007. Full Text
New "Green DC" Portal Launched
"Green DC" is an information center that tracks the environmental activities of more than 40 District Government agencies, area and national nonprofits, and local businesses. Full Text
Green Summer Job Program is now hiring supervisors
Green Summer will place teams of students within District neighborhoods in order to complete clean-ups, assess environmental conditions and resources and reach out to residents about environmental programs and services. Full Text
District Gets EPA Grant to Retrofit 22 DC School Buses to Lower Emissions
The District has been awarded $224,540 to help reduce school bus emissions. The EPA awarded DDOE the grant to retrofit 22 DCPS buses that provide transportation services to 4,000 special needs students. Full Text
