The District of Columbia has prepared a Phase 2 Draft Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) for the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). This Draft WIP is being made available to the public for comment. The TMDL was issued for nutrients and sediment for all impaired segments in the tidal portion of the Chesapeake Bay watershed in December 2010. The Phase 2 WIP outlines actions taken by local partners which will help the District meet its water quality goals.
The District’s Phase 2 Draft WIP is available online and on file for viewing on December 15th, at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, 901 G St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20001, during normal business hours. The document can also be obtained by calling the Water Quality Division at (202) 535-2691 between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
There is a 45-day public comment period that opens December 15, 2011 and ends January 31, 2012.
