Mayor Gray to Release Sustainable DC Plan

Plan Offers Comprehensive Roadmap to Ensure the District Becomes the Healthiest, Greenest and Most Livable City in the United States
WHAT/WHO:
Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the Sustainable DC Initiative’s Co-Chairs, Office of Planning (OP) Director Harriet Tregoning and District Department of the Environment (DDOE) Acting Director Keith Anderson, will announce the release of the Sustainable DC Plan, a comprehensive strategy for ensuring that the District is the greenest, healthiest, most livable city in the United States. They will be joined by members of the Mayor’s Green Cabinet and Green Ribbon Committee.
BACKGROUND:
The Sustainable DC plan builds on the past 20 months of the Sustainable DC initiative’s work and comprehensively addresses the challenges of creating jobs and growing the District’s economy, improving the health and wellness of residents, ensuring equity and diversity across the city, and improving the climate and the environment. The plan encompasses 32 goals and 31 targets, offering 143 specific actions in the areas of the built environment, energy, food, nature, transportation, waste and water.
